We, the children of Emilio Villareal, proudly profess that there is no better Visayan musician that we know of than him. Naturally, our pride of our father’s accomplishments knows no bounds.
Growing up, we knew him as a very devoted father, whose humility and quiet passion for the love songs that he composed, evoked so much appreciation, admiration and respect from the people around his music circle. To us, however, he represented a hardworking father, giving his best to provide for nine children. Behind him every step of the way was our mother, who made it her mission to be his voice and staunch supporter of his cause – that of producing many of the most beautiful love songs of the century and being recognized for his accomplishments. Sung by talents he nurtured - some by unknowns, these songs have continued to live in the hearts and memories of Filipinos all over the world. Through his immortal songs, he has given hope and allowed romantics to dream that no matter what obstacles they face, love will always find its way.
How long will he continue to gift us with his music? Forever. Because, that’s how long his music will live. We are blessed to have such an accomplished artist as a father. More importantly, to have grown with him beside us.
Through this marvel of technology, we hope to bring awareness to those who love Daddy’s music that each word written in every song, came from a quiet man with a very big heart. It could have been you he was writing about. That’s how real he was.
